An animal cruelty investigation leads to the suspension of the entire Valley Center varsity baseball season. The Police Chief of Valley Center says that School Resource Officer received the report of possible animal cruelty on the school volleyball playing area. The district says the incident involves the entire Hornet varsity baseball team and its coaching staff. The incident is now under investigation by law enforcement.
In a statement, the district says immediately upon learning about it, the school and district leadership notified authorities and suspended the varsity baseball season. The Valley School District sent out an email to families saying law enforcement is investigating the varsity team and the coaching staff for the suspected animal cruelty which involves slaughtering one or more chicken in the volleyball court. The season for the varsity baseball team went on hold for the time the case was being investigated.
The warning email has been delivered to families and staff, and it says the Valley Center High School varsity season and the team suspected for the crime has been suspended from the tournament due to an ongoing law enforcement investigation.
It says someone from the school staff informed school authorities about a possible animal cruelty incident of killing a chicken. This incident was allegedly done by the entire Hornet varsity baseball team and coaching staff on school property for entertainment or ritual purpose, but it is against the law to kill any animal in public premises like school, govt universities, public libraries, etc. The baseball season was cancelled as reported by the county’s police department until they figured out what, happened.
Parents and gaurdians of the caoches and players were informed and warned right away after this happened. Valley Center’s police chief confirmed the investigation about slaughtering the chicken for entertainment and gore purpose. However, what exactly they were trying to do with the animal is still a mystery. Multiple residents next to the school premises reported hearing animal scream because decapacitating and this cruelty incident also involved home plate at one of the fields.
The police chief tells us that the school resource officer is the one investigating, but he has no details at all so far on what it’s uncovered. The school district declined to comment.
No charges will be filed in connection to an animal cruelty investigation involving the Valley Central High School varsity team. The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office says there is not enough evidence.
The Valley Center police say the varsity baseball team had allegedly killed a chicken on the field before heading to an away game in April. The police department says the case is now closed.
